The Dominican Republic expelled 67,940 Haitian nationals between January and February 2026, according to data released by the Dirección General de Migración (DGM).
Authorities stated that those individuals were apprehended in irregular migratory status during operations carried out across several provinces, with the support of military and police forces.
The government maintains that the procedures comply with human rights standards while upholding a strengthened migration control policy.
This strategy forms part of the mass deportation plan ordered by President Luis Abinader since October 2024. On average, approximately 10,000 Haitian migrants are reportedly returned each week, despite calls from international organizations urging the suspension of such measures.
At the same time, authorities continue the construction of a border wall aimed at limiting irregular migration as well as arms and drug trafficking.
