Were we hoping for improvement? Instead, the situation has worsened: filth, the stench of urine, flies, accumulated waste, and lines of compatriots publicly exposed to indignity.<\/p>\r\n
Far from a turnaround, we witnessed an even more humiliating scene: Dominican media crews\u2014first Ntelemicro 5<\/i>, then RTVD<\/i>, and this week Eldemocratard<\/i>\u2014were filming the site to denounce the unsanitary conditions surrounding our diplomatic mission.<\/p>\r\n
An Embassy Turned Open-Air Dump<\/b> According to Eldemocratard<\/i>, the immediate environment of the embassy is now saturated with trash and used as a “makeshift toilet.” Desiderio Valverde Street, adjacent to the embassy, is the heart of the problem. Videos show people forced to urinate on walls or behind bushes due to a total lack of accessible sanitation.<\/p>\r\n
A Wave of Humiliating Dominican Comments<\/b> The broadcast of these images triggered a wave of harsh reactions in the Dominican Republic: “They bring their filth wherever they go,”<\/i> “Public Health must shut this place down,”<\/i> and “I live near this embassy; it’s disgusting.”<\/i> Whether these comments are excessive or not, they are rooted in an undeniable fact: the embassy is in a state of complete abandonment.<\/p>\r\n
