Security: Washington targets gang funding networks
US authorities are stepping up efforts against armed groups operating in Haiti. On Wednesday, the US Embassy in Port-au-Prince announced a reward of up to $3 million for information leading to the dismantling of the financial networks of two major groups: Viv Ansanm and Gran Grif.
The initiative is part of the “Rewards for Justice” program run by the US Department of State. Officials say the goal is to disrupt the financial flows that sustain these groups’ criminal activities, including extortion, kidnapping for ransom, and arms trafficking.

A strategy focused on long-term stability
This move highlights the US strategy of not only addressing criminal acts but also cutting off the financial resources that enable them.
