Haiti
Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé met in Washington, D.C. with Kristi Noem, special representative of the “Shield of the Americas” program, a regional initiative focused on security issues.
According to Haitian authorities, the meeting is part of ongoing consultations on priority matters. Discussions centered primarily on the country’s security situation, the strengthening of state institutions, and prospects for organizing credible elections.
Beyond domestic concerns, the talks also addressed regional challenges, including efforts to combat drug trafficking, the expansion of transnational criminal networks, and the management of irregular migration flows.
Haitian officials view such initiatives as an opportunity to reinforce public action, particularly in the area of security, while working to restore public trust amid persistent instability.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining active cooperation with international partners, while emphasizing the importance of respecting national sovereignty. The organization of elections meeting democratic standards remains, according to him, a central objective.
