Security: six kidnapped victims freed in Jean-Rabel
Six people abducted in Bab Pagnol, in the commune of Jean-Rabel, were released unharmed following a joint intervention by the Police Nationale d’Haïti and local residents.
According to the Direction de la communication de la police (DICOP), the kidnapping occurred on April 3, 2026. After being alerted, the Departmental Intelligence and Operations Center (CDRO) quickly deployed officers to the scene.
Upon arrival in Bab Pagnol, security forces launched search operations to locate the victims. Through coordinated efforts and community support, the six hostages were found and freed without injury, police said.
Tensions: suspected abductors killed after intervention
Authorities reported that security measures were immediately implemented to stabilize the area and prevent further escalation. A sustained police presence has been maintained to restore order and reassure residents.
However, the Police Nationale d’Haïti also indicated that five individuals identified as suspected kidnappers were killed in incidents that occurred after the rescue, allegedly linked to retaliatory actions by members of the local population.
