Port-au-Prince, April 13, 2026 — The Ministry of the Environment Haiti has instructed all its central and departmental directorates to submit activity and financial reports covering the last six months of the current fiscal year, according to an official statement.
The initiative, presented by the institution as a measure to strengthen internal governance, aims to improve administrative accountability and enhance monitoring of actions carried out within the ministry.
According to authorities, these reports will help assess completed activities, identify potential gaps in program implementation, and support more informed decision-making. All reports must be submitted to the General Directorate no later than April 30, 2026.
Administrative reorganization underway
This requirement comes amid an ongoing administrative reorganization. Changes have been made at the head of several departmental directorates, particularly in the North, Centre, and Nippes regions, where some officials are currently serving in an interim capacity.
Transparency efforts under scrutiny
While the ministry highlights a commitment to transparency and good governance, observers note that the impact of the initiative will depend on effective follow-up and the potential publication of the findings.
Through this measure, the institution says it intends to strengthen internal control mechanisms, optimize resource management, and improve public trust in its operations.
