On May 1, 2026, the government of the Dominican Republic intensified its civil and military presence along the border with Haiti.
The Minister of Defense, Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, and the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, conducted a strategic inspection route between Pedro Santana and Villa Anacaona.
The main objective was to oversee the units of the Dominican Army and CESFRONT, both tasked with maintaining security in this highly sensitive region.
Authorities placed particular emphasis on Tilori, regarded as a strategic point for binational commerce, with the goal of ensuring a safer and more organized border market.
The strategic plan also includes the deployment of new surveillance technologies, along with upgrades to military infrastructure, in an effort to professionalize migration control and prevent illicit activities.
