The mission of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Haiti has officially come to an end for its Special Representative, Cristobal Dupouy, following a formal ceremony held Tuesday in Pétion-Ville.
A diplomatic gathering marked by high-level attendance
The ceremony served as a platform for senior officials to acknowledge the work carried out during Dupouy’s mandate, which focused on institutional strengthening, the promotion of fundamental rights, and support for development efforts across the country.
Haitian authorities highlighted the role played by the OAS in implementing programs aimed at reinforcing republican institutions and supporting democratic processes.
Security and elections remain key priorities
In his remarks, Prime Minister Fils-Aimé emphasized the urgent need to continue efforts to improve national security, describing it as a critical condition for organizing inclusive and credible elections in Haiti.
The government also expressed its gratitude to the OAS for its consistent support throughout the mission of its Special Representative.

With the conclusion of this diplomatic mission, Haitian authorities and international partners underscored the importance of maintaining dialogue and cooperation to address the country’s ongoing institutional and security challenges.
