Ministry of Commerce relaunches industrial property essay competition

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Haiti (MCI) is once again inviting students to take part in the third edition of its essay competition focused on industrial property, encouraging innovation and creativity among young academics.

Port-au-Prince, March 24, 2026. This year’s theme highlights the link between sports and innovation: “Industrial property and sport: catalysts for innovation, performance and competitiveness in Haiti.” Participants are required to submit a 3 to 5-page paper in Word or PDF format, following academic standards and including properly cited sources.

Who can participate?

The competition is open to students enrolled in the following fields:

  • Law
  • Administration
  • Political Science
  • International Relations

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Have completed at least two years of university studies
  • Not have been out of school for more than three years
  • Be under 30 years old

Each application must include proof of student status. Submissions must be sent before April 10, 2026, via the online form. Incomplete or late applications will be automatically rejected.

A rigorous evaluation process

Submissions will be reviewed by a jury composed of experts in intellectual property and business law. Participants will receive confirmation upon submission, and results will be published on the official platforms of the MCI.

The Ministry emphasizes that plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Any partial or full reproduction, uncited paraphrasing, or appropriation of others’ ideas will result in immediate disqualification.

An opportunity for students

Beyond the competition, the initiative offers students the opportunity to:

  • Share their ideas and analyses
  • Deepen their knowledge of industrial property
  • Contribute to Haiti’s economic and legal development

During the previous edition, the winners Néhémie Oséus, Rodolphe Charles and Dylann Volcy received financial awards, specialized books, and an internship within the Ministry’s legal affairs department.
