On March 4, 2026, Valéry Fils-Aimé assumed leadership of Haiti’s Ministry of the Environment, in a context marked by climate urgency, natural resource degradation, and increasing territorial vulnerability.
His appointment comes at a strategic moment for national environmental policy, confronted with multiple structural, institutional, and financial challenges, further aggravated by insecurity and population displacement.
A career focused on climate and environmental policies
Originally from Les Gonaïves, Valéry Fils-Aimé holds a Master’s degree in project management and has over a decade of experience in program management, international cooperation, institutional communication, and environmental governance.
Since 2018, he has co-founded HaitiClimat.org, a platform dedicated to raising awareness on climate issues, ecology, and renewable energy.
Between 2021 and 2026, he held several strategic positions at the Ministry of the Environment, including Special Advisor and Coordinator of the National Designated Authority for the Carbon Credit Mechanism (ANDH-MDP), as well as overseeing the CBIT-Haiti project, focused on strengthening climate transparency frameworks.
He also served as advisor to Prime Ministers Jean Henry Céant and Joseph Jouthe, contributing to integrating Sustainable Development Goals into public policies.
Recognized international experience
Valéry Fils-Aimé has represented Haiti at major global climate conferences, including COPs in Madrid, Glasgow, Sharm El-Sheikh, Dubai, Baku, and Belém.
He serves as Vice President of CARIDIMA, a regional platform supported by UNESCO, working on disaster risk reduction and capacity building for young Caribbean professionals.
He has also benefited from leadership and training programs such as IVLP, Alumni TIES, and Taiwan ICDF in development, climate, and carbon market domains.
