DGI: Checks for Taxes and Fines Must Now Be Payable to “Trésor Public-DGI”

Nouveau libellé chèque DGI

Port-au-Prince, September 30, 2025 – The DGI has announced a new regulation regarding the labeling of checks for the payment of royalties, taxes, duties, and fines. Following instructions from the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), the DGI informs the public that all checks must now be issued solely to the order of “Trésor Public-DGI.”

This measure, which replaces the former practice of making checks payable directly to the “DGI,” takes effect on October 1, 2025.

In a memorandum dated September 26, 2025, the Director General of the DGI, Romain Petit, emphasized the importance of strict compliance: “The General Directorate strongly urges all concerned entities to make every effort to ensure the rigorous application of this provision.”

According to authorities, this decision aims to strengthen transparency and the centralization of public funds, while streamlining the tracking of payments made by taxpayers to the Haitian State.
