Port-au-Prince, January 28, 2026 — During a general assembly held on January 27, bringing together affiliated political parties and organizations, the MORN, through its president Dr. Jean Palerme Mathurin, declared the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) and the government a failure, arguing that both structures have been unable to meet public expectations, particularly in the areas of security and governance.
According to Dr. Mathurin, MORN currently brings together 87 political parties and more than 3,000 organizations whose positions converge around the need for a political leadership based on broad consultation in order to achieve a new, inclusive political agreement. The movement advocates the establishment of a dual executive composed of credible figures — free from corruption, unaffiliated with armed gangs, and capable of restoring public trust.
In this framework, MORN proposes that the head of the executive be drawn either from the Supreme Court, the political sector, civil society, or even the CPT itself, provided the individual is a consensual and non-confrontational figure. The movement also demands the resignation of the Prime Minister, whom it holds jointly responsible for the failure of the transition.
Security concerns stand at the center of MORN’s demands. The organization calls for urgent measures to restore security nationwide, amid persistent armed violence and the weakening of state authority.
MORN’s national coordinator, Jonas Légerme, confirmed that affiliated organizations have been engaged in a mobilization campaign for the past 40 days, set to conclude on February 7, 2026. As part of this mobilization, a public rally has been announced for this Friday at Midoré Park in Delmas 33, starting at 10:00 a.m.
Several political figures also took the floor during the meeting. Former Senator Dieupie Chérubin called for the departure of both the CPT and the government, arguing that both bodies have failed. While clarifying that he does not defend the CPT, he stressed the need to replace them with a new dual executive made up of honest and credible leaders.
Meanwhile, engineer Joseph Junior Michel, representing the National Pride of Haiti party, urged a short transition period to rapidly steer the country out of crisis, while explicitly excluding the Transitional Presidential Council from any future political solution.
According to MORN officials, these positions reflect a shared stance among all affiliated parties and organizations, determined to influence the national debate as February 7 approaches, against a backdrop of heightened political and social tensions.
